Message from Bob Muir regarding the last Salt Ayre TT of the season on 20th August 2009.

“The last Salt Ayre TT evening on a fine, bright but breezy Thursday brought out a near record turnout and near chaos ensued.
Some riders will not be as pleased with their times. We are working on ways to ensure that everybody gets their finish time accurately recorded when we run events on Salt Ayre next year but unfortunately these measures are not in place yet and some rider's times show that they and the timekeepers/number spotters/recorders missed laps or gained extra ones.
All I can say to anybody who thinks their time is wrong is sorry but you must appreciate the problem facing the crew to isolate 40 correct finishing times when riders cross the finish line a total of 423 times plus extra laps when the riders themselves loose count!!
After number crunching the stopwatch memories we are quite confident that all the two mile and six mile times are correct and in the 10 mile TT we are also confident that the times in Yellow (on original email) are correct but there are varying degrees of uncertainty for the remaining six.
Hope to see you for the last evening TT on the Caton Road course next Thursday (27th), the Bank Holiday '10' at Levens, the two stage hill climb championship on the first two Thursdays in September or the NEW IMPROVED Salt Ayre TT's next season.
